Description

The "EWA" sledge represents our versatile approach to traditional Davos design—featuring a robust wooden frame with integrated backrest mounting points that accept various seat support accessories. Handcrafted in our Białka cooperative workshops using 75 years of Polish woodworking expertise, this model is designed as a complete system where the base sledge can be customized with different backrest and handle options to suit specific needs and preferences. The base sledge features classic Davos construction with elegantly steam-bent runners that provide smooth gliding and responsive handling, sturdy crossbar bridges that support the wooden slat seating platform, and integrated mounting points designed to accept various seat support accessories. This modular approach allows families to start with a basic sledge and add comfort features as needed, or to change configurations as children grow and needs evolve. Each sledge is handcrafted from carefully selected solid wood sourced from FSC®-certified sustainable Polish forests. Our artisans employ traditional techniques including steam-bending for the runner curves and precision joinery for structural integrity. The wooden slat seating platform is assembled with expert spacing that provides comfortable flexibility while maintaining strength. The entire sledge is finished with water-based, eco-friendly lacquers that protect against winter conditions while highlighting the natural beauty of the wood grain. The "EWA" design philosophy emphasizes adaptability and longevity. Rather than purchasing multiple specialized sledges for different purposes, families can invest in one quality "EWA" base and adapt it with appropriate accessories—wooden backrest for young children learning to ride, pushing handle for parental control with toddlers, or use it without accessories as children gain confidence and skill. This approach reduces waste while providing appropriate support at each developmental stage. The sledge performs excellently on all typical sledding terrain—family hills, groomed runs, neighborhood slopes—with performance characteristics determined partly by which accessories are attached. Without accessories, it's a responsive traditional sledge. With backrest, it provides security for younger riders. With pushing handle, it becomes a controlled winter transportation system for very young children. Manufactured with our zero-waste philosophy, the "EWA" sledge represents thoughtful, adaptable design built to serve through multiple stages of childhood and beyond. The modular accessory system extends the sledge's useful life while the quality base construction ensures decades of reliable performance regardless of configuration.
