The base construction uses solid wood shaped into substantial feet that spread outward to create a stable footprint resistant to tipping. The tripod or four-point base design distributes weight effectively while keeping the overall footprint manageable—important for seating that must fit into workshops or craft areas where floor space is premium. The feet are carefully shaped and smoothed, with the grain oriented to maximize strength against the forces that adjustable seating experiences. The connection points where feet meet the central column receive particular attention during construction, as these joints bear significant stress.
